Lavender Fields

Another Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt made with two blocks that together create an interesting secondary pattern. There are 30 blocks in this queen-sized bedquilt, each with 30 or more pieces. The outer border is made with pieced 2-inch squares. This scrappy quilt has hundreds of different fabrics and over 3000 pieces! The backing is pieced with a variety of fabrics from the quilt top. The wool batting makes this a cozy light weight bed quilt. The quilting design is a botanical pattern done in variegated threads. The flange of the pink print fabric and the pieced purple binding provide the frame for this gorgeous quilt.
Celtic Solstice Mystery

This king sized bedquilt was made using the Bonnie Hunter mystery pattern. There are thousands of pieces in the two different blocks that together create a secondary pattern of rings. Several borders frame the center. The batting is a warm, washable wool and the back is made of 6 inch square of various fabrics used on the front. The quilt is beautiful from both sides!
Sunset on Ringo Lake

This was made during the 2017 Bonnie Hunter online mystery. The scrappy 30 blocks are set on point with sashing to set them apart. The outer border was enlarged to add additional blue to the quilt colors and make this an excellent king sized bed quilt. An additional shadow of pink sunset was added as a flange out the outer border with a dark blue binding to finish the effect. The back of the quilt is made from two different blue batik fabrics. The quilting pattern is a diagonal wavy water design done in blue thread.
Sunrise on Ringo Pond

This artistic quilt was made to use the remaining blocks and fabrics from the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt On Ringo Pond. Blocks were arranged to create a sunrise sky near the top and a lake below that has the reflected brilliant sun light on the surface of the water. The quilting reflects the landscape with pink thread and swirling clouds in the sky and wavy lines in blue and reflected pink in the water. A dark mauve/purple inner border frames the scene and an outer border of gorgeous blues and purples evoke the morning pond theme of the quilt. The backing is an interesting combination of blue and purple batiks.
City Lights

The ten starting blocks of this quilt were made as part of a guild challenge. Additional challenge was provided by using improvisational piecing to put the blocks together into a single quilt using only the original starting fabrics. Black became the background and additional pieced units were made to merge the divergent block designs into the final quilt. The stained glass pieced outer border provided the perfect frame for this quilt. The final quilt gives the impression of a city at night with various lighted windows in sky scrapers. The effect was copied in the quilting pattern called skyline, done in black thread.
Black and White Progression

The blocks were made from the national Modern Quilt Guild fabric challenge fabric of geometric black and white shapes. The stack-n-whack method of cutting the fabric resulted in much more variety and interesting pinwheel shapes. The various sized block were bordered in white and narrow black strips, sewn together improvisationally to progress from smallest to largest.
Grand Illusion

This quilt was made using Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion mystery quilt pattern. The layout is changed to add the dark sashing to separate the green checkerboard sections. This bed sized quilt has wool batting and is quilted in an all over large swirl pattern. The back of the quilt is pieced with various leftover blocks and strips, making it a reversible quilt.
Cat Kaleidoscope

This quilt was made with the stack-n-whack technique, cutting eight identical wedges from a multi-colored fabric, creating the kaleidoscope effect. Cutting different areas of the fabric result in unique blocks. The black background makes the block stand out and from a distance, gives is a stained glass window look. The outer border is a medium blue star print and the binding is a dark blue batik print. The backing fabric is a mottle cream. The batting used is a cotton/poly blend. The quilting is and edge to edge design of a modern star and swirl, done in black/dark grey thread.
Garden Rainbow

This scrappy quilt is made from a large variety of green 4-patch blocks left over from another project. To add other colors, each block is bordered by a 1 inch strip of various bright colors. All fabrics are 100% cotton. The quilt backing is a neutral marble print fabric. The quilting design is an all over swirl and stylized leaf pattern stitched in brightly variegated thread. The batting is cotton/polyester.
Harlequin Charm

The quilt is made from various colors of solid fabrics. Bright colored on-point blocks are alternated with black & gray blocks, making the palette of brights stand out even more. The outer border is pieced with a gray strip bordered by black strips. The binding is made from solid black, hand finished on the back. The quilt backing is a wide fabric with bright blue swirling lines and dots on a black background. The quilting is an edge to edge design of swirls done in black thread on front and back. The batting (cotton/polyester blend) and fabrics are quilt shop quality.
Traditional Sampler

This large bed sized quilt is made from 24 traditional quilt blocks. Blocks are made in a variety of cream, dark reds, greens and a few blues. A multicolored stylized floral print creates a outer framed border around the center. The backing fabric is a cream dotted fabric and the hand finished binding is a medium green that matches the inner border. The quilting design in a edge to edge feather floral that shows beautifully on the back. The batting is a lofty, washable wool, which makes the quilt warmer than the usual cotton batting.
Candy Pineapple

The pineapple blocks in this quilt are made from a large variety of 1 1/2 inch fabric strips, all with the same blue center. The blocks are set on point and sashed with a dark blue fabric which makes the colors pop. The quilting is an all over swirling pattern in dark blue thread. The quilting shows nicely on the mottled off white backing.
