This quilt of a twisted pine growing on a volcanic rock slope was made with tiny snips of colored fabric spread like "paint" to create the image. The sky is a single piece of hand dyed fabric. After the fabric bits were arranged, the entire quilt top was covered with a mesh and heavily quilted to add texture and secure the fabric snips.
